Esteban Guerrieri makes his debut in TCR South America in Brazil


This weekend the South American series of TCR will stage its second round of the 2021 calendar, the first of two scheduled Endurance races for the season. Curitiba, Brazil, will host the second event in a championship that currently leads the Spaniard Pepe Oriola after a double win at Interlagos.

Esteban Guerrieri, works driver for Honda in WTCR, where he battled for the title until the final round in the last four years, joins the TCR South America for the first time, jumping onboard the Honda Civic Type R TCR from the Argentinian team Squadra Martino.

“I am very happy and enthusiastic for joining the TCR South America in this Endurance race. I will be sharing the car with Manuel Sapag. I want to thank Sebastián Martino and all Squadra Martino for having me here at Curitiba. It’s a great series that will grow fast and bring exciting races to the region, as it happens in every TCR championship”, Esteban Guerrieri commented in the preview to the event.

TCR is a worldwide concept of racing with controlled costs in championship all around the globe, with international, regional and national tournaments in Asia, Europe, Oceania and America.

“Undoubtedly is a great racing format and it is always a pleasure to be part of it, making this type of competition to grow in South America too. It’s been a good couple of years in WTCR and surely the birth of this TCR South America will help drivers and teams grow, aiming to race at world level”, Guerrieri remarked, as he holds 10 wins in WTCR since 2018.

TCR South America had its first racing weekend at the traditional Autodromo de Interlagos at the end of June, and it is ready to accelerate at Curitiba. The following event will be held at Velopark in August, with one race at Uruguay and three in Argentina by the end of November. The end of the championhsip will be on December 5-6, yet to confirm at Chile or Argentina.
