After three tough Grand’s Prix, Valentin Guillod reversed the situation and was back to a better position with a sixth overall at the muddy GP of Mexico. Tenth and fourth of the races, with the fastest lap in race two, the Yamaha Standing Construct rider expect now to end his career in the MX2 class with a better result next weekend in the USA.
After a two weeks break the World Championship is back to action for the final two stages, with the GP’s of Mexico and USA. In León the rain was unfortunately part of the meeting, and with heavy overnight rainfalls the track was muddy on Sunday for the opening race. Pushed outside the track in the first corner of the first heat, Valentin struggled to come back in the pack, as the track was mainly one line; after a few crashes he crossed the finish line in tenth position. The track was dryer for the second heat, but Valentin didn’t got a great start; riding safely in the opening laps as he didn’t want to crash, he increased his rhythm and earned two positions in the last ten minutes to claim a fourth position with the fastest lap time in this race. Sixth of the Grand Prix, he will now move to California to prepare the final round scheduled next weekend in Glen Helen.
Valentin Guillod: “The first race was tough with all this mud, not my favourite racing conditions. In the first corner another rider pushed me outside of the track, I couldn’t turn and came last. I crashed several times in the race, and finished tenth. The track was dryer for the second heat but my start was not so great; I didn’t want to repeat the same mistakes and didn’t pushed so hard in the opening laps, but then I increased the rhythm to come back fourth with the fastest lap time. Sixth of the GP, it’s much better than in the last races but now we move to California to prepare my last 250 GP. I want to thanks all the people who are always behind me, my sponsors, my team and my family!”
