A distanza di una settimana dai successi ottenuti a Brands Hatch nella Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup, Kessel Racing torna in Inghilterra per il secondo appuntamento stagionale della serie Endurance.
LE PROVE. Dopo le sessioni di test e di prove libere del sabato, domenica mattina si sono disputate le qualifiche, che hanno evidenziato un grande equilibrio complessivo, con tantissime vetture raccolte in meno di un secondo, un po’ come era successo a Monza nella prima gara stagionale della serie Endurance. La Ferrari 488 GT3 di Broniszewski, Bonacini e Rizzoli bloccata nel traffico ha fatto segnare il decimo tempo tra i “PRO-AM”, mentre a mettersi particolarmente in luce nelle qualifiche è stato lo scatenato David Perel autore del giro che è valsa la “pole-position” di classe alla vettura che il sudafricano divide con Earle e Delhez. Gitlin, Zanuttini e Talbot hanno conquistato invece la quinta posizione tra le vetture di classe AM.
LA GARA. La gara ha visto il successo assoluto della Mercedes-AMG GT3 del http Motorsport di Baumann, Jaafar e Buhk. Tra i PRO-AM il successo ha premiato un’altra Mercedes, la GT3 del Black Falcon con Morley, Toril ed Engel. La 488 GT3 numero undici di Broniszewski, Bonacini, Rizzoli ha chiuso in ottava posizione di categoria raccogliendo punti importanti in ottica campionato. Tra i concorrenti AM un problema tecnico ha posto fine alla gara della 111 scattata dalla “pole” di classe, mentre la 888 di Gitlin, Zanuttini, Talbot ha terminato la propria gara in sesta posizione di classe. Il prossimo appuntamento con la Blancpain Endurance Series è fissato per la fine del mese di giugno sul tracciato francese del Paul Ricard.
TIZIANA BORGHI (Team Manager): “Abbiamo chiuso la campagna d’Inghilterra portando a casa dei punti importanti con la vettura PRO-AM, tra i gentlemen abbiamo avuto un problema tecnico che ha interrotto la gara della 111, mentre la 888 ha chiuso bene la propria gara. Era una trasferta delicata, in quanto storicamente Silverstone non è una pista favorevole alle Ferrari, da domani iniziamo a pensare ai prossimi impegni su tracciati più favorevoli come il Paul Ricard”.

One week after the success at Brands Hatch in the Blancpain GT Sprint Cup Series, Kessel Racing went back to England for the second round of the Endurance series.
QUALIFYING. Qualifying took place on Sunday morning after testing and free practice on Saturday. The cars were very evenly matched with many being separated by less than a second, similar to what happened in Monza in the first race of the season of the Endurance series. The Ferrari 488 GT3 of Broniszewski, Bonacini and Rizzoli clocked the tenth fastest time in the PRO-AM class after getting held up by traffic. David Perel put on a magnificent show by taking pole position behind the wheel of the Ferrari which he drives with Earle and Delhez. Gitlin, Zanuttini and Talbot took fifth position in the AM class.
THE RACE. The race saw a fantastic victory for the http Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT3 driven by Baumann, Jaafar and Buhk. The PRO-AM class was won by another Mercedes, the Black Falcon GT3 with Morley, Toril and Engel behind the wheel. The number 11 488 GT3 of Broniszewski, Bonacini and Rizzoli crossed the line in eighth place and collected important points for the championship. Among the AM racers a technical problem ended the race of car number 111, which had shot off into the distance after having taken that class pole, while the 888 driven by Gitlin, Zanuttini and Talbot finished sixth. The next round of the Blancpain Endurance Series is scheduled for the end of June at Circuit Paul Ricard, France.
TIZIANA BORGHI (Team Manager): “We have closed our campaign in England bringing home some important points with the PRO-AM car, in the Gentlemen’s we had a technical problem that forced the withdrawal of our 111 car, while the 888 had a great end to the race. It was a tricky race because historically Silverstone is a track that plays well into the hands of Ferrari. Tomorrow we’ll start thinking about our next commitments on more favourable tracks such as Paul Ricard”.
