HAMILTON LEADS FULL BEAST MODE 1-2 WIN AT MONZA

Lewis Hamilton cranked it up to full beast mode this weekend, after powering his way to the top of the Formula One drivers’ championship with a win in the Italian Grand Prix.

The three time world champion’s flawless drive from pole position, plus Valtteri Bottas’ second-place made it an impressive 1-2 podium lockout for the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport Team in Ferrari’s heartland.

It was Lewis’ sixth win of the season, and he now becomes the first driver to win back-to-back races in 2017. It also means he is now three points clear of rival Sebastian Vettel, heading to the next race in Singapore, as the season reaches an important and thrilling final run of Grand Prix.

Lewis said: “Going to Singapore in beast mode like I did today is definitely the plan! Giving it absolutely everything we’ve got. Ferrari might be a little bit quicker nonetheless it’s going to continue to be really close between us.

“It’s obviously an incredibly exciting season and the last two races have been incredibly strong for us as a team. We’ve gone from strength from strength and really shown real strength and depth and I think it’s the way we have come together in this second half so far is exceptional.”

Lewis and Valtteri’s performance at Monza secured an excellent result for the Silver Arrows, who have led this this race for the past four years. An incredible statistic, that amounts to a whopping 212 laps of racing at the front of the pack.

Valtteri added: “What I’m really happy about is the one-two for the team! From my side it was a good race, even though I lost one position at the beginning. Luckily, I got it back quite quickly and could then overtake the Williams and the Force India.

“After that the pace was great and I was really enjoying it – the car war so strong today. It was amazing to be on the podium. Monza is definitely one of the best – if not the best – podiums in Formula One. It’s such a great atmosphere, so much noise, so many people – I wish everyone could experience it. Looking forward, we know that we still have a lot of work to do, the races ahead will be a close battle with Ferrari.”
